The seasons

  1. March to April

    Spring: green and fresh

Days are pleasantly warm, evenings can turn chilly, and the countryside is green and in flower. The sea is still cool for swimming.

  2. May to June

    Early summer: warm and settled

The long dry summer starts in mid-May. Rain is rare, evenings are warm and the sun sets late, so there's long, soft light for photos and the party.

  3. July to August

High summer: hot days, golden evenings

The hottest months, with cloudless skies. The coast is cooled by the sea breeze, while inland it's much hotter. Choose a late slot, shade for guests and a seaside or hill venue.

  4. September to October

    Autumn: warm sea, softer heat

The sea stays warm after its August peak, days stay warm and October evenings are cool. It's lovely for beach weddings and a swim the next morning.

  5. November to February

    Winter: mild and quiet

Most of the year's rainy days fall now and there's snow on the Troodos mountains, yet there's still around six hours of sunshine a day. Have an indoor plan and enjoy calmer venues.

Ceremony days and times

Municipal civil ceremonies are a weekday affair as standard. Akamas marries couples Monday to Friday, except public holidays. Paphos's official ceremony hours are Monday to Friday, 10:30 to 14:00, and ceremonies outside those hours or away from its own venue may cost extra.Sources: Akamas Municipality | Pafos documents guide (PDF)

That matters for sunset weddings: from May to mid-August the sun sets after 19:30, well outside office hours. Limassol adds €130 for Saturdays or out-of-hours ceremonies and Polis adds €170 out of hours; for any other municipality, ask for the current out-of-hours fee.Sources: NOAA solar calculator | Limassol Municipality | Polis Chrysochous Municipality

Akamas doesn't marry couples on public holidays, so ask your office about its holiday dates. Orthodox Easter moves every year, so check the calendar for your year before you fall in love with a date.Source: Akamas Municipality
